Sentence Bookmarks and Notes
What This Solves
Some useful language cannot be reduced to one word. It may be a fixed expression, a particular tone, or a sentence you want to use yourself later. Save the whole sentence instead of saving only one word in the Words section of My Words & Sentences.
How to Bookmark a Sentence
- Find a sentence you want to keep in the study player.
- Tap the bookmark button next to the sentence. The first tap saves it.
- Tap the highlighted bookmark again to add or view a note for that sentence.
The bookmark keeps the original sentence, its source, and its context. Later, you can return to the source without searching through the whole episode again.
Where to Find Saved Sentences
Open Words & Sentences from the bottom navigation bar, tap Filter, and choose Sentences. From there you can:
- Browse every saved sentence
- Search your saved sentences
- See the source and when the sentence was saved
- Open sentence details and read the surrounding context
- Return to the original content
- Remove a bookmark
When the original source still provides media, you can also play the original audio or the relevant clip.
Add a Note to a Sentence
Tap the bookmark on a saved sentence again to open Sentence Notes:
- Write down why the sentence is worth remembering
- Record grammar, tone, usage, or your own example
- Edit an existing note; changes save automatically
Notes are optional. You can save a sentence without writing anything.
Use AI to Draft a Note
The note sheet has an Ask AI option. AI first creates a draft for you to preview. You decide whether to add it to your note; the draft does not replace your content automatically.
Sync and Deletion
Sentence bookmarks and notes sync with your account. When you are temporarily offline, a note can be saved on the device first and synced later; if sync fails, the item remains visible with a status telling you that it needs attention.
If you remove a bookmarked sentence that has a note, the note is removed with it and cannot be recovered. Copy anything you need before removing the bookmark.
Sentence Bookmarks vs. Saved Words
| Feature | Best for | What you do later |
|---|---|---|
| My Words & Sentences · Words | Words, phrases, and vocabulary that should enter word review | Check definitions, sources, and review status |
| Sentence Bookmarks | Complete sentences, fixed expressions, and usage contexts | Return to the source, replay the clip, and read your note |
You can use both for the same sentence: bookmark the full sentence, then save an important word from it in My Words & Sentences.
Practical Tips
- Do not bookmark every sentence. Keep the expressions you genuinely want to reuse.
- A note can simply say why the sentence matters; you do not need to copy a full grammar lesson.
- When reviewing, play the original audio before reading the sentence and note so you remember the real context.
Common Questions
Do bookmarked sentences automatically enter word review?
No. Sentence bookmarks and saved words are two content types inside My Words & Sentences. Save a word separately if you want it in vocabulary review.
Can I still play a clip after the source is deleted?
The saved text may remain, but if the original content or media is no longer available, Aelano cannot guarantee that the clip can be played.
Are AI note drafts saved automatically?
No. AI provides a draft first. It is saved only after you choose to add it to the note.
