When you run into a word you do not know, the natural thing to do is write it down and look at it again later. But if you write it in sticky notes, a notes app, or a spreadsheet, those words end up scattered everywhere and never get reviewed — so writing them down was wasted effort. Aelano's My Words & Sentences keeps your saved words, phrases, and sentences together and connects them to your study content, the review system, and the original source. Saved items keep their context so you can return to the source, while saved words also have mastery status for review.
Open Aelano; the bottom navigation bar has a Words & Sentences entry.
Saved words and phrases mainly come from two sources:
In the player, use Word Lookup, then save the word from its card. This is the most common way — while studying a piece of content closely, you add unfamiliar words as you meet them.
Whenever a piece of content finishes transcribing, Aelano uses AI to extract the key vocabulary automatically — weighing the difficulty of the content against your learning level to pick out words you are likely to be unfamiliar with. These words are not forced into My Words & Sentences; they sit in the content details for reference. Save the useful ones and skip the rest.
My Words & Sentences shows a mixed list of saved words and sentences by default. Tap Filter to choose a content type:
When Words is selected, you can also filter by status:
The filter sheet also supports language, word type, level, and vocabulary-list filters, plus sorting by save time or difficulty. The search field searches words or sentences according to the current content filter.
A typical workflow looks like this:
If what you want to save is a complete sentence, fixed expression, or usage context, switch to the Sentences tab and use Sentence Bookmarks and Notes. Sentence bookmarks do not automatically enter word review, but they let you return to the source, replay the line, and write a note.
Tap any saved word in My Words & Sentences and the card shows:
The card's action menu also has:
If you want to take your saved words outside the app for practice — dictation, printing, homework for a teacher, or pairing them with other tools — you can export them. Export currently applies to the word results, not saved sentences.
Aelano's export does more than list the words — it also offers templates designed for practice:
| Template | What it shows | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Write the word | Shows the translation, leaves the word column blank | Read the translation and write the word — basic dictation practice |
| Write the translation | Shows the word, leaves the translation column blank | Read the word and write the translation — check whether you really understand the meaning |
| Show everything | Shows both the word and the translation | Use it as plain reference material |
The export screen tells you how many entries will be exported, and what it exports is every word under the current tab. So if you only want the ones you have not mastered, switch to the Not Mastered tab before exporting, and nothing from Mastered gets mixed in.
What is included in My Words & Sentences?
It includes two content types: saved words and phrases, plus complete sentences you saved separately. Use Filter to show words, sentences, or both.
Do AI-extracted words enter My Words & Sentences if I never save them?
No. AI-extracted words sit in the content details for reference, and they only appear in My Words & Sentences after you save them.
What happens when I delete a word?
The word is removed from My Words & Sentences, and its mastery status and review progress are deleted along with it. If you save the same word again later, it starts from zero.
Does exporting use up membership quota?
Exporting itself does not consume any quota. CSV and PDF are available to all users.
Does it sync across devices?
Yes. My Words & Sentences, mastery status, and review progress all sync with your account.
Can I search for a word or sentence?
Yes. The search field at the top searches words or sentences according to the current content filter.
